In 2020, the SGCI board restructured the SGCI awards in an effort to better reflect the needs of our diverse membership. This included the creation of the SGCI Mid-Career Printmaker and Emerging Printmaker Awards, as well as the SGCI Community Printmaking Award. We strive to represent our members at all stages of their career as well as a variety of backgrounds.
For a number of these awards, we have expanded the existing nomination system to feed directly into our new voting platform! We hope that this will allow our member’s voices to be heard through a democratic system of nominations and a popular vote. We encourage all of our members to log in and nominate those who you feel are deserving. See links below for info on applying to each award.
The Lifetime Achievement in Printmaking Award and Student Fellowships which have been given in the past will remain in place. We will be phasing out the Excellence in Teaching Printmaking, Printmaker Emeritus, and Honorary Member of the Council Awards after MakeReady and Puertográfico. Please note that nominations for the Community Printmaking Award are solicited by the conference steering committee only. To learn more about this exciting new award, please visit the awards page on our website!
We welcome your feedback on these changes by emailing thelisteningchannel@sgcinternational.org.
